Maintenance & Care: How to Care for your Terracotta: Address spills immediately by wiping with a dry, soft cloth. Dust regularly with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid use of cleaning products with acid, vinegar, lemon and ammonia, as well as gritty cloths and scouring compounds — abrasive ingredients and materials can damage terracotta. Use a neutral cleaner specifically formulated for clay surfaces and avoid applying too much water.
